Painting is something I pursue to express the need to create, mainly using acrylic paints and often including mixed media. I apply layers of colour, using sometimes very large brushes, sticks, sponges and even my hands and fingers.
I love the challenges in producing a work that speaks for itself with no preconceived idea, by letting go and using my intuition and letting the layers of colours and forms tell their own story.
Born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1946, Suzanne gained a Diploma in Art Studies from Balga/Fremantle Technical Colleges 1984 and a Bachelor Degree (Visual Arts and Performing Arts), University of Western Sydney, 1987.
After completing her studies, Suzanne resided in the USA (Pennsylvania) 1990-2001. While in the US she exhibited in New York, Philadelphia, State College, New Jersey and Florida, taking part in many regional shows and gaining many awards including 3 Whimsy Awards, Washington Square FAA, Rittenhouse Square FAA, Images, Hub Gallery, State College, Philadelphia Sketch Club, Atlantic City Art Museum, and New Hope Festival of the Arts.
She exhibited in several Galleries on the east coast and her work is held in private collections throughout America. Upon returning to Australia, Suzanne set up a grass roots Gallery in Two Rocks and exhibits regularly in regional art shows. Her work is held in the City of Wanneroo, Joondalup and Bassendean art collections as well as private collections.
Most of her subject matter includes animal studies, seascapes, and figurative interpretation. She is conversant in most media, including acrylics, pastel, and most drawing media. At present Suzanne is exploring seascape with an emphasis on light and the patterns made at varying times of day. These large canvasses (36 x 48) depict her local beach with its steep dunal system and changing topography. As always these large works are interspersed with lively animal studies with an emphasis on line influenced by the master of line, Brett Whiteley.

My paintings and photographs have been exhibited in various places. I’ve received several awards on my work & still is sooo much involved on the creative side of life and work.”
Over the years, Nun has taken many photographs for our art club and has also made many contributions to the North Coast Art Club’s Facebook page.
Sandie is passionate about the arts in all its forms and colours.
“Since my childhood on the Mediterranean shores of Lebanon, I remain under the spell of the seven seas. I try to capture the moods of the ocean and its vibrant colours through my acrylic works. I’ve just started experimenting with watercolour and different mediums.
In 2011, I have moved to Australia with my family after being in Dubai for 10 years.
My first exhibition was in July 2016 at the Grove Library, Peppermint Grove.”
I currently work part time as a geologist and now spend much time creating art, mostly acrylic/mixed media painting and more recently digital art using Photoshop and Corel Painter software.
I grew up in Brighton, Victoria until I started work as a geologist, living in many remote locations… until finally settling down in Perth, WA in 1995.
Outback landscapes, rock formations, desert sunsets, textures and colours have inspired much of my artwork.
I love to place paint onto the canvas and let my imagination take over often using bold, bright colours, different textures and patterns. I enjoy the freedom of creativity and feeling of escape while painting, which is in direct contrast to my work as a geologist which is very structured and exact.
I exhibit my work regularly through several local art club exhibitions. I won first prize in Freedom School of Art 2012 exhibition. I am currently a featured artist for Autumn 2020 on OzArtFinder.com.
My work is not inspired by anyone in particular. I attended the Freedom School of Art run by David Giles where I studied many different abstract artists. I owe a big thanks to Jacky McFarlane who introduced and taught me how to use best quality ‘Golden’ paints, mediums, and texture pastes in all of my artwork.
A new adventure has begun – “I have only ever been painting since late 2009.
I’ve started off in oils and since joining the club, have tried other mediums such as pastels, acrylics, drawing and watercolour. My preferred medium is oils.
I love attending workshops as there is so much to learn from other artists’ techniques. Art always leaves me inspired and motivated and brings groups together – it creates a sense of community.”
I have always loved painting. It is a great way to let loose with your emotions and create something beautiful.
Lately I have been captivated by beach scenes so these feature highly in my work; whether they are stunning local beaches, or places I have visited overseas – there is something magical and calming about the water.
I work mainly with acrylics but sometimes with oils, watercolours or pencil/charcoal. I also adore painting portraits and cherish the opportunity to do so whenever I can.

Born in New Zealand, I’ve been a resident of Australia for 20 years and now consider Perth to be my home.
I work primarily with acrylic paint. I also love collage, using hand printed papers to add pattern and texture.
I have always felt the need to extend my techniques and attend workshops whenever I am able.
The primeval nature of the Australian landscape always fascinates and awes me. It’s unique flora and fauna feature strongly in my art work.
In 2012 my painting of an aboriginal woman from New Norcia won best painting at the Joondalup Community Art Awards.
My multi media piece “Discover Disappear” won expert panel
award at the Joondalup Art Gallery in 2014. In this art work I used photographs from National Geographic magazines which I dissolved to create beautiful textures and patterns to highlight the fragile ecosystems of the Kimberley.
I have always had a passion for art.
I exhibit regularly, and as such have received numerous commissions.
I am constantly learning and applying new techniques into my artworks to continue creating interesting and diverse pieces.
